Into the unknowwwn

Into the unknowwwwwwn

Today was the day of unknowns. What a beautiful morning view to start it.

We had our usual morning with some great prayer warriors, a filling breakfast, and a time of preparation. Since we would be evangelizing at a college campus this morning, we made some gospel bracelets to hand out.

The time at the college was challenging and brought some mixed feelings.

Once we got to the campus, we handed out the gospel bracelets, but most students were either not on campus or in a class. We were constantly moving from one place to another, trying to start conversations or gather students by performing songs.

Most attempts were unsuccessful, but we were thankful for the few with whom we spoke to about their own faith and response to the praise or skit.

Since we arrived at the campus unplanned, we realized that maybe this day wasn't a good time to be at the school, especially since we didn't want to disturb classes or those studying for exams. We were grateful for the time there, but we reevaluated our current situation. After some discussion, we decided that we would visit the festival happening in the city and evangelize there. Our time at the college was short-lived.

Before we moved on, we had lunch at Pollo Campero (that's Issac with a lime in his mouth), took a break, then drove into the city.

There was a stage in what seemed like a common area/center of the city. Food stalls were set up around it, and barricades kept the performance area clear.

Our team walked closer to the stage, reaching the barricades at the front right side of the stage.

Then the strangest thing happened.

The emcee on stage started talking to us. And I don't know any Spanish, but I'm pretty good at guessing. It sounded like he asked, "Are you guys Korean?", which we then replied: yes.

"Missions?"

"Yes."

And the something I couldn't understand but here's the gist of it: "Come back to perform at 3:20pm."

...

What just happened?

Why are we about to perform at a large festival in the middle of the city?

All I could think was that this was a crazy redirection from God. How did we go from facing challenges at the college to getting access to perform at a large festival in the city in the same day?

But wow.

Ater each performance, the emcee would talk about the message of the skit and evangelize to the crowd— and this wasn't a Christian festival either. Pretty sure we just crashed some random festival, but God's name was made known.

God is so good. Truly, He is in control of it all.

How did we end up at a festival we never planned on visiting, then run into an emcee (or maybe the organizer?) who wanted to share the good news of God?

I was so thankful and had such a blast going into the unknown— God took us exactly where He wanted us to be, and it was even better than what I imagined.

After dinner, we had a time of praise, reflection, and prayer. Each person shared their reflections, and each person's prayer request was prayed for. It was a deeply personal and intimate time for all of us as a team.

Though our planned VBS days were finished, the trip has not yet ended. We still have one more full day before our flight on Friday night.

Please pray for:

Our last day in Guatemala

Our travel back home

The college students

The people at the festival

The children of Guatemala

A prayer of praise and thanks for all that has happened today

Thank you,

Anna
